Morgan is a hilarious little character with an amazing smile. She was diagnosed at 4 with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, a type of cancer that affects the blood and bone marrow. Morgan receives regular chemotherapy at the Children’s Hospital to treat the cancer. The beginning of her treatment was horrific. The doctors were unsure of her cancer type and she had a reaction to platelets. Morgan has had many long stays in the hospital. The long stints in the hospital have been hard on all her family, as often they were separated with Morgan and her Mum in hospital, and her dad and sister, Mahalia, at home. This was made much worse during the COVID-19 pandemic, as siblings couldn’t visit, and it was extremely hard on Morgan and her family. Throughout all of this, Morgan has been brilliant and taken all of her treatment in her stride.
Because of her chemotherapy, Morgan is immune suppressed. This means she has had to miss school for the past year. She misses her friends and playing sport. There are good days and bad days, but Morgan is smashing goals and getting through treatment. Soon she will begin a new phase of chemotherapy, which will mean she can regain some normality, which Morgan and her family are really looking forward to.
