August’s Warrior – Jack

“The greatest gift our parents ever gave us was each other.” – Unknown

Never was this so true as for Jack (3) and Daisy (almost 1), they share an incredibly close bond. But Jack and Daisy don’t get to spend as much time together as they would like as Daisy was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia (ALL), a type of cancer that affects blood and bone marrow.

It’s very difficult for them to be apart so much of the time but Jack loves coming in to see his sister at the hospital and is very caring towards her, always asking how she is and if she’s better yet. He always wants to know if the doctors have been to see her and what they said so he can make sure they are looking after his little sister.

In return, Daisy loves watching Jack and tries to copy what he’s doing and she loves laughing at him when he’s being silly. Jack calls Daisy his “little darling”.

Jack loves spending time with his family and this year has been especially difficult for him as he adjusts to the inpatient demands on his parent’s time. Naturally, Jack struggles to sleep alone now and is worried about being left by those closest to him.

While mum is caring for Daisy at the hospital and Dad is away working, Jack is lucky to have a supportive extended family on hand. He has a special bond with all his grandparents who have helped look after him. He also has a special bond with his Aunty who picks him up regularly from daycare and spends a lot of time caring for him, playing and helping around the house.

Jack loves anything related to animals (zoo or farm). He loves his Border Collie Dash and is obsessed with Paw Patrol. Like a lot of little boys, he loves diggers, bulldozers and trucks. He also loves stickers and colouring in too. At the moment his favourite colour is purple.

Jack’s ultimate day would be spent at the zoo with Mummy, Daddy and Daisy. He loves all the animals and riding around in the wagons there.

We would love you to write to Jack and let him know you think he is a pretty awesome big brother!

Jack is a loving brother who just wants to spend time with his family – he loves Paw Patrol, animals, trucks and diggers. He would love to hear from you.
